invitation envelopes

Inner Envelopes, what are they - and do you need them?

An inner envelope is a second envelope slightly smaller than the outer.  It holds your invite, rsvp card and any other inserts and is then slipped inside the outer envelope.

So, do you need inner envelopes?  Probably not.  Inner envelopes used to have reason for their use.  Letters used to be carried by horseback along dusty roads and the outer envelope would be in terrible condition when they arrived at their destination.  Inner envelopes allowed servants to remove the filthy envelope and hand a pristine one to the recipient.

Luckily our mail system has improved since those days, so most contemporary invitation designers (including MDC Designs) sell their designs with only one envelope (inner envelopes are available by request).  This allows us to cut down on costs for our clients.  Plus, it is better for the environment, using less paper and creating less waste.

Rose Petal Eco-Friendly Invitation

Our newest handmade wedding invitation, Rose Petal, is made for flower lovers – and it is eco-friendly too! This petal folder is made from recycled cotton embedded with real rose petals for a natural and romantic look.  Inside are recycled cardstocks that reflect the beautiful deep burgundy bow that wraps the outside of the invite.

Love the rose paper, but you don’t want burgundy?  This paper would look great with a variety of ribbon colours or natural raffia.  We also have papers with different flowers.  We’re always happy to customize designs to suit your style!
