Grapevine Wedding Invitation

It’s hard to believe that something so dramatic & luxurious looking can be environmentally-friendly, but it’s true!  The
Grapevine wedding invitation, made entirely from tree-free and recycled paper, is one of the latest additions to the eco wedding invitation collection.  We have three new invites on the website with more being introduced this month!

Happy New Year! The wedding season is upon us and now is the time when many brides realize “Ack! My wedding is this year!” So, to help calm some frayed nerves we thought we’d answer one of the most common questions that our clients ask - When should I order and send out my invitations?

Save-the-Dates: 6-12 months before your wedding date. Save-the-Date cards are not necessary, but many couples find that it the best way to ensure that their guests have time to make travel plans.  It's a good idea to send Save-the-Dates if your wedding is over a particularly busy season, like a long weekend, holiday or summer vacation, if it is a destination wedding where all guests will have to travel and/or if it is in a popular tourist destination.

Mailing Invitations: 6-8 weeks before your wedding date. We generally recommend 8, and even more if you have many guests coming from outside of the country.

Reply-By Date: 2-3 weeks before your wedding date. It is important to leave time between receiving your RSVP's and your wedding for many reasons. Often your venue and caterer need to have a full count of your guests up to a month before your event. This also gives you adequate time to plan your seating, place cards, any personalized favors, etc. Remember too that there will be late responders. I always tell my clients to expect that they will have to call some guests to follow up.  So, leave yourself at least a week before your caterer or stationer need your numbers to call the stragglers.

So when should I order my invitations?  Handmade, custom and specialty invitations generally take from 4-8 weeks, but can be more depending on the size of your order and the time of year. It is always better to give your stationer as much time as possible, at least 3-4 months before your wedding.   Many companies (such as MDC Designs) encourage advance bookings, so clients are not disappointed. Also, remember to give yourself additional time to address & stuff your envelopes.
Please Note: If you're making your own invitations, we would recommend you start much earlier as it takes most diy`ers much more time than expected.
